The Toronto Maple Leafs are finally showing some fight

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly checked Ridley Greig late in Saturday night's game and could face a suspension.

It's time for the Toronto Maple Leafs to show some fight. I've never seen such an effort from this team, so if you ask me, Rielly's effort to keep his team together was brave.

However, the internet is losing its mind and people are suspecting that he could be suspended for 6 games.

I know the violence in the NHL has decreased over the years, but it's still hockey, at the end of the day. Sports are all about “unwritten rules” and Greig crossed the line and deserved to be punished. Greig is a 21-year-old rookie with just 58 NHL games under his belt. He spent his junior career in the WHL, which means he should know how to defend himself; however, it's not the same WHL as it used to be.

He should have known what was coming when Greig took a shot for a truly meaningless goal with just 5 seconds left in the game. Instead, he watched as Rielly approached him, assuming nothing would happen. Had he made this move 20 years ago, he would have already put on the gloves for the fight, so I don't think Rielly should be sidelined for too long.

If you look at Rielly's actions, he barely caught it. He may have high-checked it, but if it was fighting for the puck and playing in the corner, it would have been a two-minute minor.

Greig is not injured and Rielly has no history of doing such things, which appears to be the NHL's main concern when deciding on a suspension.

Greig is to blame for his terrible sportsmanship and his Ottawa Senators teammates should be ashamed of what he did. It was a classless move by a classless player and one who should even be lucky enough to play in the NHL.

While Rielly is virtually guaranteed to be suspended, I don't think he should be. I liked hockey when the police were waiting for the player himself. I think the replay is in slow motion. it looks worse than ever and Rielly should get away with a fine and a stern warning,

Suspended or not, it's great to see someone on this team show some emotion and hopefully it will give the team a reason to move forward.
