Montreal Soccer Club has signed popular forward Josef Martinez

Martinez left Atlanta last winter when the lingering effects of an ACL injury hampered his 2020 season and eventually signed with Inter Miami. He finished with 12g/3a in 40 games for the Herons, helping them win the League Cup and reach the US Open Cup final during a one-year stop.

Inter Miami rejected Martinez's contract option last October, allowing them to sign Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez and reunite him with Lionel Messi.

Now in Montreal, Martinez joins forward Mathias Coccaro and attacking midfielder Dominik Jankov as the final third addition this season. Along with Kwadwo Opoku, they spearhead CFMTL's new attack as head coach Laurent Courtois takes the reins.

Martinez has 105g/17a in 161 matches throughout his MLS career. He scored 14 goals in 66 games for Venezuela.
