City of Calgary releases final agreements for Event Center block

CALGARY, ALTA. – The City of Calgary and partners have released final agreements for new community infrastructure for the Event Center Block and the city's culture + entertainment district.

The event center will feature new public amenities and infrastructure, such as a downtown ice rink, new public plazas and gathering spaces, and improved transportation networks for commuting. It will also provide a year-round sports, arts and entertainment hub, the City of Calgary said.

“2024 will be a big year for the Culture + Entertainment District and downtown Calgary as we and our partners at the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation work to revitalize, renew and energize downtown Calgary,” said Event Center Project COO and Steering Committee member Stuart Dalgleish. statement.

The agreements are intended to provide Calgarians with an understanding of the partnership between the City of Calgary and the Province of Alberta, the Calgary Stampede and the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation, the release said, and “amendments to the issued agreements exist to protect sensitive issues. and proprietary information about project partners”.

“Calgarians looking at these agreements will see a lot of familiar information. Much of the information contained in these agreements will be released with the announcement of final agreements in October 2023,” added Michael Thompson, General Manager of Infrastructure Services for the City of Calgary.

The design phase of the Events Center block continues with groundbreaking in 2024.
