A 27-year-old Winnipeg woman has been charged with manslaughter after her 2-month-old baby died of malnutrition, police said.

On December 4, 2023, police and emergency personnel responded to a home on Atlantic Avenue between Arlington and Mackenzie streets. According to a news release issued Friday, police responded to a call about an unresponsive baby.

The baby was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was arrested by Winnipeg police on Thursday. He is in custody.
