Calvert Four Books Place in Viterra Final – Winnipeg Free Press

STONEWALL – Brayden Calvert is headed to his first Manitoba men's curling final.

The Carberry product led his Winnipeg team to an 8-7 victory over top-seeded Viterra Championship Reid Carruthers in a 1-on-2 playoff game Saturday night.

Calvert led off with a double with his last stone for the decisive point.

The final is scheduled for Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Calvert's third team out of Fort Rouge now awaits the winner of a 9 a.m. semifinal that pits Carruthers against Assiniboine Memorial's Jordan McDonald.

McDonald defeated Gladstone's Jeff Stewart 4-3 in a 3-on-4 game Saturday night.

The Manitoba title holders advance to the Brier National Championships in Regina next month. Winnipeg's Matt Dunstone qualified based on his high status in the Canadian Team Ranking System.
