Calgary's Trash2Treasure fashion show offers eco-friendly fashion alternatives

A fashion show in Calgary on Saturday helped turn trash into treasure to raise awareness about reducing overconsumption.

The Trash2Treasure fashion show took place in Calgary on Saturday with sustainable fashion, eco-friendly fashion alternatives. Students from the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta held a fashion show as a way to combine fashion with environmental education and to encourage an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

Revival of second-hand fabrics

All of the fabrics for the gorgeous pieces were donated by Goodwill and given a second life by creative hands. Students showcased their designs made from discarded blankets and tablecloths, demonstrating the possibilities of upcycling and recycling materials.

Enhancing environmentally conscious choices

Trash2Treasure organizer Nidhi Kothikalapudi emphasized the importance of recycling and reusing what we already have. She encouraged attendees to consider swapping items with friends and finding new ways to style and reuse their existing wardrobe, promoting a more sustainable and thoughtful approach to fashion.
