Robert Lafreniere's son has become the new deputy inspector general of the city of Montreal

Jean Lafreniere, son of former UPAC commissioner Robert Lafreniere, will be the new deputy inspector general of the city of Montreal.

Jean Lafreniere, who succeeded Michel Forget from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), is considered a police officer with a lot of experience, Félix Séguin told LCN.

Robert Lafreniere's son was notably the deputy director of the provincial police, who was also the deputy director of criminal investigations at the SQ for almost 25 years.

He is also recognized for his expertise in cybercrime and has led several major investigations at the SQ.

Jean Lafreniere therefore chief inspector Me Brigitte Bishop. However, since he is not a member of the Quebec Bar, he can never replace him in this position, which is considered a prerequisite.
