Smoke caused an emergency landing at Montreal-Trudeau airport

(Montreal) A Delta flight from New York had to make an emergency landing at Montreal-Trudeau Airport on Friday afternoon.

Aéroports de Montréal spokeswoman Anne-Sophie Hamel said the landing was caused by smoke on board and that there were no injuries.

Mⁱ Hamel said airport authorities had been informed that the incident was not related to mechanical problems.

Delta spokesman Anthony Black said the crew declared an emergency and landed the plane without incident.

Mr Black said passengers were evacuated onto the tarmac as a precaution.

The cause of the incident is being determined, he added.
