Industrial fire in East York area under control, no injuries

A fire that tore through a pizza restaurant on Toronto's east side early Saturday morning is now under control, according to Toronto Fire.

Toronto Fire Services (TFS) says they received a call at 5:44 a.m. about a level two fire on Overlea Blvd. When crews arrived, they said the building was completely engulfed by “heavy flames (from the fire) coming from the front window.”

At the scene, Watan Pizza & Grill was surrounded by mostly broken windows and debris surrounding the business.

Crews are currently controlling the fire. Personnel were on scene, but no injuries were reported. However, the restaurant suffered significant damage due to the fire.

Crews responded to heavy smoke and flames at a 2-alarm commercial/industrial fire on Overlea Blvd. The fire is now under control. At this time, the TFS fire has been investigated and crews are monitoring the fire. Fortunately, there were no casualties. ^dv #Toronto pic.twitter.com/0536d3xeGP
