The former teacher pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation and was sentenced to 3 years

A former teacher in southern Alberta has been sentenced to three years behind bars for sexually abusing a student.

Rebecca McCubbin pleaded guilty at the start of a week-long trial.

He admitted to six intimate relationships with the student since January 2021.

At the time, McCubbin was a teacher at Eagle Butte High School in Dunmore, Alta.

Along with the jail sentence, McCubbin was ordered to undergo DNA testing.
