The Caring for Children Radiothon raised $2.21 million for the Alberta Children's Hospital

This year, the Caring for Kids radiothon raised $2.21 million to support the Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary.

This brings the fundraising total since 2003 to $45.1 million.

Saifa Kunar, president and CEO of the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, expressed the foundation's gratitude in a statement released late Friday.

He says it's the supporters, sponsors and volunteers who make Radiothon what it is, as well as the inspiring children.

“Through Radiothon, they are making a very real difference in providing the best care for children in our community and

beyond that,” Koonar said in the release.

Greg Johnson, program manager for Country 105 FM, said in Friday's release that the station is proud to be a part of the Radiothon.

He called it “a wonderful example of our community coming together to improve the lives of children and families.”

Tom Crist, philanthropist and longtime Radiothon donor, awarded “five additional $100,000 incentive awards over the course of the three-day event,” the foundation said in a release Friday.
