Bicyclist in hospital after being hit by car on Pembina Freeway: WPS

Winnipeg police say a man is in hospital after being hit by a car Tuesday morning.

At WPS around 6:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a collision between a vehicle and a bicyclist at the intersection of Pembina Highway and North Daly Street.

When officers arrived, they found an 83-year-old man suffering from serious injuries.

Employees provided emergency medical care until emergency personnel arrived at the scene. The man was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he remains, police said.

Police said in the early stages of the investigation, the man was riding his bicycle eastbound on North Daly Street and was struck by a Chevrolet Colorado as he approached the intersection.

The driver of the Chevy Colorado stayed at the scene and spoke with police, police said.
