It's a busy weekend in Calgary, with huge food festivals and the annual Chinese New Year celebration taking over the city.

Whether you have a sweet tooth or are looking for a feast to feast your eyes on, here are some of the best things happening in town right now that you won't want to miss.

YYC Hot Chocolate Festival

What: If you or your partner have a sweet tooth, there's nothing quite like the YYC Hot Chocolate Festival. With so many unique concoctions in different parts of the city, you'll enjoy exploring Calgary in search of the most unique flavors.

BHM Exhibition at Military Museums

What: A new exhibit has opened at the Military Museums, highlighting the vital role and sacrifices of black Canadian soldiers from the First World War to the present day. Running throughout February, there are plenty of opportunities to check it out for yourself.

Check out Chinook Blast

What: There's a lot to look out for at Chinook Blast, but the most fun comes in the amazing art installations and performances that pop up around town. It's a massive event with lots of free things to check out, including colorful light displays that can be very romantic.

Free Black History Presentation at Heritage Park

What: This free presentation will teach you all about the forgotten history of black beast traders. Join renowned poet, writer and educator Bertrand Bickerstedt as he explores the topic with the audience.

Chinook center mirror mirror

What: This interactive art exhibit has taken over the old Nordstrom building in Chinook. Mirror Mirror is an experience that Moment Factory describes as “a playground of immersive art that takes you into a world that blurs the lines between reality and fantasy.” It is a delight for all the senses, being an installation that “brings together scenography, light, words, original music and interactivity to create a surreal and sensory playground of immersive art that reconnects us to our imagination.”

We checked it out ourselves and were blown away! Each individual room is a visual delight guaranteed to make the perfect photo backdrop.

Telus Spark

What: Telus Spark has several places to take photos this month, especially at their upcoming Valentine-themed Tender Tingles exhibit. The event is designed for a full multi-sensory experience, allowing guests to explore “the secrets of touch, ASMR, relaxation and the various effects of being on or off.” There are also options to sign up for a couples massage workshop or a VIP dinner that further explores the range of different sensations.

If you're looking for a picture-perfect foodie, this is a can't-miss place thanks to their amazing galactic-themed ice creams and hot chocolates.

Black History Month at the Calgary Public Library

What: The Calgary Public Library is hosting a number of events in honor of Black History Month. From film screenings to educational presentations, you won't find ways to recognize black talent and contributions at the Calgary Public Library this month.

Chinese New Year

What: Celebrate Chinese New Year by joining the Chinese Cultural Center for a performance of dragon and lion dances. They are visually stunning and also take beautiful photos.
