The Montreal Canadiens send Lucas Condota to the Laval Rockets

The Montreal Canadiens traded Lucas Condota to the Laval Rockets on Friday, clearing the way for the expected return of Alex Newhook on Saturday.

Condotta played three games this season with the Canadiens on two separate recalls. He did not score. He has one goal in his only NHL game last season. He has five goals and eight assists in 40 games with the Laval Rockets in the American Hockey League this season.

Newhook will practice with the Canadiens on the first power play unit Friday, the first sign he will be back on the ice. Along with Condotta's downgrade, it's pretty obvious. Newhook's last game was against the Florida Panthers on Nov. 30 and he is expected to be out 10-12 weeks with a high ankle sprain.

He has seven goals and six assists in 23 NHL games this season, his first with the Canadiens.
