Poll Shows Crombie Wins Toronto, GTA – bayobserver.ca Hamilton, Burlington & GTA

A new Communications Strategy poll shows that while Ford PCs have an 8-point lead over the Ontario Liberals, the Bonnie Crombie-led Liberals are winning in some key areas.

The survey, conducted February 2-3, 2024 using interactive voice response technology, surveyed 1,236 Ontario voters. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 2.79%, 19 times out of 20. Contact Member of the Canadian Insights Research Council (CRIC).

“While Doug Ford leads the Crombie Liberals by 8 points, the regions are looking for a slight edge to Crombie,” said David Valentine, Director of Communications Strategy.

“Crombie's Liberals lead in the North (34%) and Toronto (40%) and are tied with the Tories in 905 (38% to 38%). The Tories lead in most other regions, with strong support in Eastern Ontario (46%), Southwest (40%), South Central (36%).

Pessimism in health care

“This month we looked at Ontario's trust in the health care system. A strong majority, 66%, believes that the health care system is worse than it was 5 years ago. If we look at the next 5 years, 48% believe that the system will remain as it is, and 24% believe that it will deteriorate,” said Valentin.

“We also asked Ontarians about their confidence in their health care system.”

Not sure/not sure

– 78% are not sure that they will see a family doctor within 24 hours

– 69% are not sure that they will get a room in the hospital if necessary

– 82% are not sure that if they have a medical condition, they will see a specialist before their condition worsens.

– 74% are not sure if they need surgery, they will be able to get it before their condition worsens.

– 64% are not sure if they will be able to get a sick leave
