Manitoba News: Bridge destroyed by fire is being rebuilt

A bridge near New Bothwell is being rebuilt nearly nine months after it was destroyed by fire.

The province confirmed that construction on the bridge over the Manning Canal on Provincial Route 311 began earlier this month.

Last May, the bridge was badly damaged by a fire that spread from a nearby field.

The fire was ruled accidental and the bridge was dismantled.

A provincial spokesman said the new bridge would cost $16 million and have a higher capacity for overloaded vehicles.

The bridge will open to traffic in December and the project is expected to be completed by the summer of 2025.
