Two police chases near Montreal at night: arrested, one in serious condition

One night, two policemen gave chase.

The first in Beloeil is on the south shore of Montreal.

Three youths, aged 17 to 19, were arrested, one of whom had a handgun.

Around 2:15 a.m., Richelieu Saint Laurent police officers attempted to pull over an SUV on Route 116.

The driver refused to stop and chased after him.

Shortly after, the driver crossed the median, lost control and crashed hard into a lamppost.

The three passengers of the car fled on foot, but were quickly apprehended by the police.

A man was seriously injured in a private police chase in downtown Montreal.

And Quebec's police watchdog – the BEI – is investigating the circumstances.

It originally started in Repentini at around 10.45pm on Monday when officers attempted to stop a car which was stationary at a green light.

The driver then fled westbound on Highway 40, and the Sûreté du Quebec (SQ) took over the road.

Once in Montreal, a car crashed into the center wall east of the Ville-Marie tunnel.

The suspect was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

The BEI launched an investigation and the criminal investigation of the suspect was transferred to the Montreal police.

“Four BEI investigators have been assigned to investigate the circumstances surrounding the intervention,” BEI said in a press release.
