QS launches youth initiative to promote Quebec independence

Quebec solidaire (QS) says it will launch a campaign called Nouveau Québec on Friday to convince a new generation to accept sovereignty.

The initiative is chaired by Mercier MNA Ruba Ghazal, who explains that as a Palestinian Quebecer, she understands the uprooting and threats to her language and culture.

As such, she says she wants to help convey her love for French and Quebec culture.

A Leger poll earlier this month found that respondents support independence at about 35 percent.

In terms of voting intentions, they support the pro-independence Parti Québécois (PQ) with 32%, 25% with the Coalition Avenir Québécois (CAQ), 16% with the QS and 15% with the Liberals. Party (PLQ).

Québec Solaire believes that the path to independence lies in uniting the youth, as they did not experience the first two referendums in 1980 and 1995.

Ghazal says Quebec cannot afford to lose a third referendum.

Émilese Lessard-Therrien, the party's co-representative, will also be campaigning for Nouveau Québec.

In his opinion, the independence project is emancipation and affects the generation that has grown up in Quebec without a large social plan.

Lessard-Therrien explains that Quebec independence is the key to social justice, environmental progress and self-determination.

QS intends to share its message of independence through a new website. (https://www.nouveauquebec.info/)

They also campaign locally, organize events, conferences and create posters to promote the independence project.
