A Winnipeg woman has been charged after her two-month-old baby died of malnutrition in December.

According to police, officers and firefighters responded to a home in the 600 block of Atlantic Avenue on Dec. 4, 2023, for a report of an unresponsive infant. The boy, identified as King Campbell-Ross, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Child Abuse Unit launched an investigation, and police received an autopsy that determined Campbell-Ross died of malnutrition.

Alyssa Michelle Ross, 27, was arrested Thursday on a charge of murder.

The charge was not proven in court.

This is the second child death Winnipeg police have released this week.

Harry Daniel Adrian Bruce and Sabrina Faye Boulette, the parents of one-year-old Hannah Boulette, have been charged with manslaughter in connection with Hannah's March 2023 death from fentanyl poisoning.
