An auto repair shop in eastern Montreal was set on fire Thursday morning

An auto repair shop caught fire early Friday morning in East Montreal.

There were no injuries, but as the cause of the fire was still unknown several hours later, the Montreal Police Department (SPVM) said its fire brigade would be in charge of the investigation.

Investigators are expected to arrive at the scene of the fire on Marien Avenue, near the intersection of Ontario Street in a commercial and industrial area in east Montreal, later Thursday.

According to SPVM, the fire started around 4:50 am.

The fire brigade of Montreal (SSIM) was unable to prevent a major loss.

The initial examination of the ruins did not reveal the composition of the crime that may have been the cause.

To facilitate the work of police investigators, a security perimeter was established around the burned building.
