Will we have an early spring? | News

Ontario's mild winter weather makes us think of spring. The Farmer's Almanac Spring Weather Forecast for 2024 predicts warmer weather and spring rains approaching.

While winter may end with a snowy blast in many areas, the Farmer's Almanac spring weather forecast for 2024 favors an early spring — with a few exceptions.

Spring officially arrives with the vernal equinox on March 19.

What's in store for spring in Canada?

“Canada will see above-average precipitation, with the exception of below-average precipitation from British Columbia to the Yukon,” predicts the 2024 Farmer's Almanac spring weather forecast. “Temperatures will be mostly near or above normal, but frost may linger in northwestern areas.”

March

March is expected to be a “warmer than normal month” across most of Canada, with the exception of southern Ontario, the eastern Prairies and the Northwest Territories. March is expected to be dry in the eastern part of the country, while other regions may experience more than normal rain.

April

April temperatures will be warmer than normal in eastern Quebec, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories, and below normal elsewhere.

Precipitation will be above normal from Atlantic Canada west across the Prairies and into the Northwest Territories, but below normal elsewhere.

May

Warm “above average” temperatures will remain from the coast to Quebec and the Northwest Territories. Temperatures are expected to be below average across central and western Canada. Above average precipitation will be expected from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick through Quebec, Ontario, the Northwest Territories and the southern Yukon. Much of central and western Canada will experience below-average precipitation.
