Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in southeast Calgary

Our traffic unit continues to investigate a single-vehicle crash that left one person with life-threatening injuries this morning on southbound Deerfoot Trail SE.

It's about 1:05 am today, Tuesday, On February 6, 2024, a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander driven by a 43-year-old man was southbound on Deerfoot Trail SE approaching the on-ramp to Stoney Trail SE.

At that time, the Uplander was unable to negotiate a curve and it is believed that the vehicle crashed into a light pole. The impact sent the car airborne and landed on a nearby grassy median, where it came to rest about 130 meters from where it left the road.

The man was taken to the hospital in serious condition, his life was in danger.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in this collision, speed is being investigated as a factor in this crash.

The car was reported stolen to the police.
