2 JetBlue planes touch down at Logan Airport, wingtips touch tails – Winnipeg Free Press

BOSTON (AP) — Two JetBlue planes made contact Thursday morning at Boston Logan International Airport, with one wing tip touching the tail of the other plane.

No one was injured and both flights were canceled, Massachusetts Port Authority official Jennifer Mehigan said in an email.

Both Airbus 321s were on the deicing area, a tarmac controlled by the airline, when the left wing of JetBlue Flight 777 hit the right horizontal stabilizer of JetBlue Flight 551 about 6:40 a.m., according to Federal Aviation Administration. The competent body that opened the investigation.

Mehigan said the planes “came into contact while in the icing area” and described the collision as “very minor.” Passengers said they were transferred to another plane.

Brian O'Neill, who was flying to the Super Bowl, said his plane was following the vehicle into the icing area when he noticed it was “very close” to another plane in the area.
