Raptors add Kelly Olynyk, Ochai Agbaji in trade with Jazz

Veteran forward Kelly Olympique is headed to Toronto after signing with Utah.

Toronto continues to shake up its roster this offseason, agreeing to acquire Kelly Olympique and Ochai Agbaji from the Utah Jazz at the trade deadline, the teams announced Thursday.

Predators get:

  • Kelly Olynyk
  • Ochai Agbaji

Jazz gets:

  • Otto Porter Jr
  • Kyra Lewis Jr
  • 2024 first round pick

What the trade means for the Raptors: Olynyk brings veteran experience to the Raptors' front line after Pascal Siakam left for Indiana earlier this year. The center averaged 8.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 56.2% overall and 42.9% from 3-point range. Toronto will be the sixth NBA team for Olynyk, who also played in Boston, Miami, Houston and Detroit before spending parts of two seasons with the Jazz.

Agbaji, a 23-year-old shooting guard, was drafted No. 14 by the Cavs in 2022 and was sent to Utah in the Donovan Mitchell trade. He averaged 5.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 51 games with Utah this season.

What the trade means for the Jazz: Porter has been injured twice this season, is currently out of Toronto's rotation, and has appeared in just 23 games since the start of last season. Lewis made one appearance with the Raptors last month after Toronto acquired Pascal Siakam from New Orleans in the deal that sent him to Indiana.

Utah will also pick up a first-round pick for the upcoming 2024 draft, as its 2024 pick will go to the Oklahoma City Thunder if it falls outside the top 10.
