PC lettuce kits are being recalled in Canada due to listeria risk

More salad dressings are being recalled in Canada due to possible listeria contamination.

A batch of President's Choice shredded Mexican-style street corn salad is being recalled across Canada as the cheese used in the product is linked to a much larger recall in the US.

The recall notice also applies to two packages of Taylor Farms Mexican-Style Street Corn Salad, which can be purchased at stores across Canada, including Costco.

The withdrawal period applies to all savings until February 19, 2024.

The product recall follows a larger recall of cheese made by Rizo-López Foods in the US. The company issued its own recall notice on February 6 due to a Listeria outbreak linked to Queso Fresco and Cotija cheese.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the outbreak has killed two people and hospitalized 23 people.

Food contaminated with listeria may not look or smell bad, but it can still make you sick.

According to Health Canada, symptoms can include fever, nausea, cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, muscle aches and stiff neck.

Customers who may have had any of the salad kits have been urged not to consume them and to throw them away or return them to the store where they purchased them.

Anyone who thinks they may have become ill from consuming contaminated produce should contact their doctor.
