Man arrested after posing as fundraiser for SickKids: Toronto Police – Toronto

A man has been arrested in downtown Toronto after posing as a fundraiser for SickKids and soliciting monetary donations, police say.

Toronto police announced the arrest Thursday after asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect.

Since November, there have been several reports of a man going to apartment buildings in downtown Toronto and falsely portraying himself as a SickKids fundraiser, police said.

The man was wearing SickKids brand clothing and holding a fake ID badge.

“The man is not a legal representative of the SickKids Foundation,” police said.

“He became aggressive and physically threatening when confronted by the complainants,” it said.

That prompted Toronto police's financial crimes unit to launch an investigation last month.
