A cemetery is a great place to cry because no one asks. Union Cemetery is a great place to soak up your sadness, and when you're done, stop by the Reader Rock Garden next door for a fun stroll and hot tea.

Address: Earlton Street and 32nd Avenue, B

Take a trip to Edmonton

Because as most Calgarians know, there's nothing to be sad about in Edmonton.

Made by Marcus

Crying and ice cream go hand in hand. Instead of crying your eyes out over ice cream at the grocery store, why not treat yourself to something special? Even though it's cold outside, Made by Marcus has plenty of delicious seasonal flavors right now.

If you want to do it all in the comfort of your own home, they also have takeaway tubs. Check out all the flavors here.

Address: There are three locations across the city on 17th Avenue, Bridgeland and West Hillhurst. For the exact location of each, click here.

Plaza Theater

A dark theater is a great place to cry in secret, but not alone. The Plaza Theater is a great arts venue in town, so you can feel good by imagining yourself as the star of a sad indie film, or just watch one instead. Click here for a list of what's playing.

Address: 1133 Kensington Road NW

Regal Cat Cafe

If you need to cry, there's nothing like a soft and cuddly cat to cheer you up in the process. Comfort yourself with a hug or wipe away your tears with a soft fleece. Regal Cat Cafe has thousands of cat treats and merchandise to help cheer you up.

Address: 303 10th Street NW

Indoor swimming pools

YMCA

Shane Holmes YMCA Pool (YMCA Calgary)

Okay, so the public pool is pretty, well… public, but all that water makes it easy to hide your tears! Take a few dives to make it look like you're really wet, and if your eyes get a little red, blame it on the chlorine.

Address: There are several indoor pools in the city, including a number of YMCAs and the City of Calgary.

Glow in the dark bowling

Whether you like bowling or not, glow in the dark makes it a lot more fun. For added privacy, choose a corner seat at Mountain View Bowl. If you still can't completely hide your tears, look really bad at bowling.

Address: Mountain View Bowl, 3919 Richmond Road SW

Devon Gardens

Devon Gardens is a popular destination for many Calgarians, but despite its popularity, there are plenty of quieter spots around. Look for a table close to the green to hide your face a bit.

Address: CORE Mall, 333 7th Ave., SW, 4th floor

Speeders Go-Karting

Go-karting might seem like an odd choice until you remember the giant helmets you have to wear on the track. Shed a few anonymous tears as you dodge obstacles and get your adrenaline pumping. Because there is no obstacle that you cannot overcome.
