CTV Calgary will air news coverage of the Bell Media layoffs at noon over the weekend

The beloved local news show was canceled Thursday as part of a layoff announcement from parent company Bell Media.

CTV Calgary has ended its midday broadcasts, effective immediately, a source told Daily Hive. It is unclear if this will affect the number of jobs.

News coverage was also suspended over the weekend, according to images posted on social media on Thursday.

They are among the many eliminations and changes that have occurred as a result of the company's “adaptation and advancement.”

CTV's noontime show isn't the only one in shock Thursday, as the company is also selling 45 radio stations, laying off 4,800 employees and leaving many holes in its local newscasts across the country.
