A senior official at the public consultation office after the scandal in Montreal

Guy Grenier is no longer its Secretary General Community Counseling Office in Montreal (OCPM) in a spending scandal that broke out in the fall.

A public relations officer for the organization told the CBC that Grenier is no longer with OCPM, which organizes public consultations in Montreal. It is unclear whether he was fired or resigned.

“We cannot comment further on the employee's personal situation,” Gabriel Marte-Dufour said in a written statement.

Grenier has been the Secretary General of the OCPM since January. He will be replaced by a city employee who will serve as interim president.

Grenier is the latest executive to leave the organization after former president Isabelle Beaulieu was ousted in November last year.

At the time, the summary judgment regarding Beaulieu's dismissal made no mention of Grenier's future at OCPM, despite his participation in the organization's expenses.

The OCPM came under scrutiny when records of significant expenses incurred by Dominique Olivier, the organization's president from 2014 to 2021, were made public. He subsequently resigned as president of Montreal's executive committee last November.

Then attention turned to Beaulieu and Grenier.

Many called for their departure, including Municipal Affairs Minister Andre Laforest, who urged them to “think about the future”.

“I want to reiterate that Ms. Beaulieu and Mr. Grenier must take into account the breach of trust with the public. Ms. Beaulieu and Mr. Grenier should no longer lead OCPM,” he said at the time.

Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante also called on the president and secretary general to resign.
