Laval man gets $3,015 fine for speeding

A 23-year-old man was fined $3,015 for speeding overnight in Laval.

Around 01:30, Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers were conducting radar operations when they intercepted a speeding vehicle on Highway 15 South in Laval.

SQ caught a car doing 209km/h in a 100km/h zone.

Two people were aboard the vehicle and were arrested in Montreal.

The police found out that the driver did not have a driver's license.

He was issued a $1,076 violation citation, a $1,939 speeding ticket and will lose 24 demerit points.

Because the driver did not have a valid driver's license, his car was impounded for 30 days.

The Sûreté du Québec indicates that speed is one of the main causes of fatal collisions on Quebec roads.
