Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign Brandon Alexander – Winnipeg safety

The big week for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers continued on Wednesday night as the club locked up their third starter in just over 24 hours.

The Bombers signed long-term safety Brandon Alexander to a one-year contract to avoid free agency, one day after dealing Brady Oliveira and Dalton Schoen.

Alexander played the last six seasons in the CFL with Winnipeg.

A knee injury forced him to miss most of the 2022 campaign, but the 30-year-old had a breakout season last year, making 41 tackles and two interceptions in 17 games.

It was the second time in his career that he has been named an All-Star in the West Division.

CFL free agency begins Tuesday, and the Bombers still have 17 players on expiring contracts.
