Winnipeg Jets' Brenden Dillon suspended three games for illegal head check

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon has been suspended three games for an illegal head check on Pittsburgh Penguins forward Noel Acciari, NHL player safety announced Wednesday.

Dillon was assessed a match penalty for an illegal check on Acciari's head during Winnipeg's 3-0 loss to the Penguins on Tuesday.

Just over four minutes into the second period, Acciari fumbled the puck in the neutral zone and Dillon hit Accarii in the head with his shoulder.

Acciari's helmet was blown off by contact and many Penguins players rushed to his defense.

Dillon has six goals and 15 points in 47 games with the Jets this season, his third with the team.
