Neylander scored twice, Matthews scored in the 41st as the Maple Leafs beat the Stars 5-4.

TORONTO (AP) – Mitch Marner and William Nylander scored 20 seconds apart midway through the third period, Auston Matthews scored his 41st NHL goal and the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Dallas Stars 5-4 on Wednesday night.

Nylander had two goals and an assist, Matthews had one assist and John Tavares had one goal and two assists. Ilya Samsonov made 27 saves.

Toronto scored three goals on the power play in Monday night's 3-2 loss to the New York Islanders, who were coming off the All-Star break.

Yevgeny Dadonov scored twice for Dallas, the second on a penalty kick in the third period. Jamie Benn and Wyatt Johnston also scored.

Scott Wedgwood made 26 saves against Jake Ottinger in a 2-1 win at Buffalo on Tuesday night. The Stars have won four straight and won seven of 10 games.

Dadonov tied the score at 3 on a penalty kick with 8:55 left when a Maple Leafs defenseman blocked his jumper.

Marner answered for the 22nd 32 seconds later with a nice layup from Matthews. Nylander then scored his second goal of the night and his 25th overall.

Johnston scored his 15th goal with 1:25 left before Nylander missed the empty net in search of his second NHL hat trick.
